Dual Design has been operating in the Eurobodalla since 1992 and in that time has successfully completed projects ranging from small additions to Integrated Housing Projects.
Increasingly Dual Design has been involved in Project Management as the process of submitting Development Applications has increased in complexity. We specialise in simplifying this process for our clients and follow through with the project after Council Submission. We facilitate not only the assessment process but also include coordination of the necessary documentation to enable a Construction Certificate to be issued so building can begin once approval has been granted. Throughout the process consultation with the clients is extensive to ensure their brief requirements are met; while still considering Council Control Plans and relevant consultants recommendations to maximise the opportunity for a successful submission that gains approval. Our success in this process directly results from a collaborative approach when working with Council and the required consultants which comes from strong connections to the community. The extensive amount of built projects further reflects the success of this process.
Increasingly material selection that is sustainable in its production and does not pollute the environment is requested and we guide our clients through this selection process in consultation with local suppliers to ensure the selected finishes can be readily sourced locally thereby reducing the carbon footprint of the construction process.
Prestigious Design
Quality design that respects the environment within which the project will reside (including good passive solar design principles) and addresses the clients individual brief.
New dwellings or alterations and additions that upgrade the dwelling are commissions we welcome. No job is to small for Dual Design.
Feasibility Studies
Integrated Housing projects that will maximise the yield on site while still complying with all associated development control plans and local environment plans to ensure approval.
Detail Design
External and internal colour palettes can be provided with consideration to the natural or built context/siting. Material selection and detailing with reference to budgets included in the service provided if required.
Application Coordination
Submission to Council for Development Application Approval; including coordination of all consultants required, and guiding the application through the assessment process is increasingly required due to the complexity of the process. Dual Design submits all the documentation and follows through until approval granted.
Biography
Katrina Scobie graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Design in 1986 followed by a Bachelor of Architecture from Curtin University in 1989. After completing her studies Katrina travelled for two years through South-East Asia and Europe finally settling in the South Coast. Katrina established the business Dual Design in July 1992. This business has is still active; with family life and a 3 year management role for BHI Architects Batemans Bay office the only interruption.
Over the years many successful projects have been constructed and strong relationships forged with local contractors, suppliers, consultants and council staff. The business expanded to not only provide a prestigious design service that respects site and community; but to include the navigation required through the approval processes and systems that have significantly grown in complexity.
The positive results reflected in the vast amount of projects built in the area is a testament to Dual Design. The successful approach has been undertaken with constant client consultation and consideration. Electronic media and computer aided design enables even the most remote client to be connected throughout the design and approval process. Three dimensional interactive cad images are an additional service which is a great tool for both clients and assessors to examine the proposed designs.
Katrina Scobie is an active member of the Community having held positions on many community committees thereby giving back to the community that has supported her business from so many years. In addition to the community work Dual Design has provided a platform to promote the field of building design by mentoring and encouraging local students to consider this exciting field.
